"Maritech Minds" is an engaging and high-energy quiz competition designed to challenge participants on their knowledge of maritime technology, navigation, communication, and shipping industry trends. The quiz blends technical marine concepts with general awareness, logical problem-solving, and current maritime affairs, encouraging both quick thinking and collaborative teamwork among contestants.
Rules & Regulations:
1. Team Composition
Each team can have 2–3 participants.
All participants must register before the event begins.
2. Questioning & Answering
Once a question is read out, no repetition will be done unless requested immediately.
No discussion with the audience is allowed during answering.
In Rapid Fire, no passing of questions is allowed.
3. Scoring System
Preliminary Screening: 1 mark per correct answer, no negative marking.
High Risk – Low Risk Round:
High Risk: +20 for correct, −10 for wrong.
Low Risk: +10 for correct, −5 for wrong.
Rapid Fire & Audio-Visual: 5 Marks and 7 Questions each segment.
4. Time Limits
MCQ Rounds: 30 seconds per question.
Rapid Fire: Total time will be announced; any unanswered question is counted as 0 marks.
Audio-Visual: 20 seconds to respond after clip/image is shown.
5. Conduct
Any use of mobile phones, smart watches, or external help will lead to immediate disqualification.
Teams must maintain discipline; arguments with quizmasters or volunteers will not be entertained.
6. Tie-Breaker
In case of equal scores, a sudden-death question or a short buzzer round will decide the winner.
7. Decision Authority
The Quizmaster’s decision is final and binding in all matters.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Preliminary Screening (MCQ)
A multiple-choice question round to filter the top teams for further stages.
Questions will be from marine, general knowledge, current affairs, and logical reasoning.
- High Risk – Low Risk Round
High Risk: Correct answer = +20 points, Wrong answer = −10 points
Low Risk: Correct answer = +10 points, Wrong answer = −5 points
Teams can choose their risk level before answering each question.
- Rapid Fire Round
A quick-response segment where teams answer as many questions as possible within a set time.
No passing of questions; accuracy and speed are key.
- Audio-Visual Round Tie-Breaker (Optional)
Questions based on images, videos, or audio clips related to maritime and general knowledge.
Test your observation, recall, and interpretation skills.
Only conducted if scores are tied after all rounds.
